Our Goal:
The former Universalist Church is the tallest and most prominent building in Fort Plain. It has stood downtown at the corner of Mohawk and Center Streets since 1896. Our organization, Historic Fort Plain Inc. has succeeded in saving the building from demolition and is now beginning to restore and convert the church into an arts-oriented community center renamed Unity Hall.
We envision a beautiful, historic space that will serve the people of western Montgomery County in many ways: as a concert hall, theater space, fine arts gallery space, educational center with classroom and workshop facilities, and more. We also hope to open a small café or coffeehouse and create a space for special events such as weddings and graduations, all located in the heart of Fort Plain.
How You Can Help:
Restoring this building will require YOUR assistance and generosity.
Your donation to Historic Fort Plain, Inc. via the address below would be a tremendous help towards our goal. We have raised some money towards the purchase of the building, with the rest made up of loans. We hope to repay those loans and start renovating the building, but will require more of your support to turn it into a resource for the community.
Please take a moment and make a donation now to help make the project happen!
